Racial Harmony Day
Thursday, July 24, 2008
21 July is a mark of celebration for living harmoniously in a country like Singapore. With the different races that exist, it is really remarkable that we can learn and understand each other's customs and cultures. I wasn't in school that day to join in the celebration, but I heard that it was a fantastic day, full of interesting activities. Tell me about what you experienced that day and make me "see" what I have really missed.

I think that we can see Racial Harmony everyday in our lives. I am very sure that many of you have friends or neighbours who are of different races. I have two really good friends in school and they are Chinese (whose names coincidentally start with V and W). We sit and eat together, we celebrate each other's birthdays and we even share our problems.

It does not matter whether you are a Malay, Chinese, Indian or of any other race. It is what's in your heart that counts...

NE Show 2008
Thursday, July 17, 2008
Last week we went to Marina Bay to watch the NE Show. It was a long awaited event for most of us. Even though we had to be in school hours earlier, nobody really complained. In fact, everyone was in high spirits! I was quite eager to get the "Funpack" and see what was inside.

The walk from the Esplanade Drive to Marina Bay was quite long, but we made it in time before the show started. There was a sea of red and white among the spectators who were wearing the national colours. The celebrities, who were the MCs for the show came on the stage on jet-skis!

I like the air show by the Black Knights the best. Especially the ones when they flew up and down vertically, and the one when two of them flew towards each other. I actually screamed when it happened as it looked as though they were going to crash head-on! Such fine, perfect skills the pilots had!

Another part of the show that I liked was the fireworks, of course! And guess what... My camera's battery went flat just when the fireworks started...sigh... Anyway, the scenery was unbelieavably beautiful! It was awesome! There and then, I actually felt very proud to be a Singaporean. Two of the girls actually wept during the fireworks... :-(

What was your experience like at the NE Show? Share it with me....

Can't wait to hear from all of you!
