Beijing Olympics 2008

Did you catch the opening of the Beijing Olympics on the 8th Aug? It was really a spectacular show!

The stadium which they called the "Bird's Nest" was really huge to be able to accomodate more than a hundred thousand spectators. The performers were perfect in the way they danced, sang or even moved across the longest stage I've ever seen.

I was awed by the moving pictures across the "walls" and the "floor" of the stadium. The highlight of the show was of course the lighting of the Olympic torch. The man who brought the torch in actually "flew" to light up the torch mounted on top of the stadium. It was mentioned that he actually practised every day (in the wee hours of the morning) for the big day.

Having watched the different competitions and tournaments the past few days, I think the athletes and competitors have really shown what PASSION & EXCELLENCE means. I'm looking forward to see if Phelps (the favourite swimmer for this year's Olympics) will achieve the 8 golds he has set out to bring home...
