Teachers' Day
Sunday, August 24, 2008
Of all my years in school as a student, I can still remember clearly my primary school days. I enjoyed school a lot when I was in primary school as my teachers were all very encouraging(though a few were very strict) and kind.

Although there were NO IT gadgets around those days, my teachers could still teach and explain clearly the concepts that we had to learn. They wrote on blackboards using chalks (and I made sure that I would not sit near the board because the dust would cover my green pinafore!), they prepared handwritten worksheets and spent time reading stories to us.

A teacher who I can particularly remember was Miss Lau, my Primary 4 teacher. She was a very caring teacher and took time to talk to us during recess, and after school. I remember that she would still be in school to teach us even though she was not feeling well at times. She even gave me a story book for doing very well for my examinations that year. Even after she had left the school, we kept in touch by writing letters (no computers and emails then).

Now that I am a teacher myself, I know how difficult it can be to not only teach, but manage students' behaviour. I take it as a challenge and will do my best to teach well and hopefully, inspire my students like my teachers did.

Share me your stories about your favourite teachers....
